Pete Davidson’s feud with Kanye West has certainly increased his reputation around the world, but in the U.S., the comedian and actor has been a household name for quite some time. Having landed his big break on NBC’s late-night sketch comedy Saturday Night Live, the 28-year-old recently started branching out by starring in a string of blockbuster flicks.
But his acting and comedy career isn’t the only thing that’s kept Davidson’s name trending on social media over the years as the New Yorker has also been linked to a bunch of A-list celebrities whom he is believed to have dated or shared a fling with.
In 2018, the TV star was even engaged to pop superstar Ariana Grande, who later called things off with her then-fiancé following reports the two had fallen out of love just months after they started seeing one another.
Davidson’s exes include Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley, Kaia Gerber, Phoebe Dynevor, Cazzie David, and Carly Aquilino, just to name a few. But how exactly did he become such a force in Hollywood, who has taken the media by storm with his new romance with Kim Kardashian? Here’s the lowdown…
How Did Pete Davidson Become Famous?
Davidson was born in New York in 1993.
In 2001, he lost his father Scott Matthew Davidson, a former New York firefighter, in service during the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center.

His dad was last seen running up the stairs of the enormous building just before it collapsed, leaving the family traumatized and completely heartbroken.
Davidson, who was only 7 at the time of his father’s passing, said he was greatly affected by the loss considering the two had always shared a close bond with one another.
In a previous interview with The New York Times, he said that the experience was “overwhelming,” adding that going to school became unbearable as he began acting out irrationally as a result of the trauma.
Things had gotten so bad for Davidson at one point that he decided to rip off his hair until he was bald.
Rapper Kid Cudi Saved Pete’s Life
In October 2016, Davidson sat down for an interview with POWER 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, where he opened up about his childhood trauma and how he had dealt with suicidal thoughts for as long as he could remember.
Having lost his dad at a young age and struggling with school were just two of many things the comedian was struggling with at the time, but his mental health has deteriorated to a point where he no longer wanted to live.

During his chat on the radio show, Davidson said that if it wasn’t for Kid Cudi’s music, he didn’t think he’d be alive today.
“[Kid] Cudi’s the best of all. He saved my life. I would’ve killed myself if I didn’t have Kid Cudi,” he said.
“I would’ve killed myself. Absolutely, 100 percent. If you’re 25 and under, I believe Kid Cudi saved your life. I truly believe if ‘Man on the Moon’ didn’t come out, I wouldn’t be here.”
Interestingly enough, Kid Cudi had just checked himself into rehab at the time to tackle his depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts.

Speaking on the rapper’s struggles, Davidson shared: “It’s kind of comforting to know your hero goes through the same stuff you do. I think that’s why a lot of kids my age can relate to Cudi and people love him so much is because he’s a very emotional dude.
“I texted with him last Monday, and he’s in really good spirits. I think I might go see him next week. But he’s in a good place.”
When Did Pete Become Famous?
His earliest appearance on TV came on the MTV comedy show Failosophy, which premiered back in February 2013.
He later had a recurring role on MTV2’s Guy Code before getting to perform a standup special on Comedy Central’s Gotham Comedy Live.
From there, Davidson became a regular on Nick Cannon’s Wild ’N Out before landing yet another part on the TV series Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
And by September 2014, he was cast as a recurring cast member on Saturday Night Live, becoming one of the youngest stars on the show at the age of 20.
He has since starred in a string of blockbusters including Trainwreck, The Suicide Squad and The King of Staten Island.
